Mr. Brown has been lead counsel and co-lead counsel on numerous multimillion dollar verdicts and settlements in cases involving products liability, automobile and trucking accidents, medical negligence, industrial accidents, admiralty and maritime law injuries and deaths, environmental pollution and fraud.  He is admitted to practice in all Alabama State Courts, the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of Alabama, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit and in the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Brown is Immediate Past President of the Alabama Association for Justice, formerly known as the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association. He is a Charter Member of the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation's "Pioneers for Justice." He is also past President of the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation and now serves on its Executive Committee.  He is a member of the Mobile County Bar Association, Alabama State Bar, Southern Alabama Trial Lawyers Association (Member, Executive Committee) and Amercian Association of Justice.

Pro bono/Community Service:

  • Mr. Brown is active in the community having served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Mobile Metropolitan YMCA and as Chairman of the Administrative Board, the Board of Trustees, and Stewardship for Spanish Fort United Methodist Church. In addition, he enjoys coaching youth sports (basketball, softball and baseball) in Spanish Fort and Daphne, Alabama.

Verdicts and Settlements:

  • Some noteworthy cases in which Mr. Brown served as lead or co-lead counsel include Dirt, Inc. v. ShawCor, Ltd, et al., an environmental pollution case in which an $108 million verdict was obtained for a local landfill company in its suit against defendants for dumping hazardous waste into its landfill---this case was the 15th largest verdict in the U.S. in 2007 according to VerdictSearch; Larrimore v. Springhill Medical Center, a medical malpractice case in which a $4 million verdict was obtained against a hospital for its pharmacist providing incorrect dosing information to its emergency room doctor, which resulted in prescribing a fatal dosing regimen of Colchicine for a patient with gout; and Lewis v. Auto Mart of the Southeast, et al., a fraud case in which a $1 million verdict and $1 million settlement was obtained against defendants for selling base-model used cars that were altered to look like they were top-of-the-line.  The following language is required by Alabama Rules of Professional Conduct: "These recoveries and testimonials are not an indication of future results. Every case is different, and regardless of what friends, family, or other individuals may say about what a case is worth, each case must be evaluated on its own facts and circumstances as they apply to the law. The valuation of a case depends on the facts, the injuries, the jurisdiction, the venue, the witnesses, the parties, and the testimony, among other factors. Furthermore, no representation is made that the quality of the legal services to be performed is greater than the quality of legal services performed by other lawyers." 

Educational Background:

  • Mr. Brown graduated from the University of South Alabama School of Business cum laude, receiving numerous undergraduate honors. He then received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama.
