Mr. Thompson was first certified by the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in criminal defense law in 1980 and is currently certified through 2013. He has personally tried hundreds of jury trials in major felony cases and has earned a national reputation for defending high-profile and high-publicity cases. He has taught at bar association and public defender seminars, at Arizona State University's School of Law and at the Phoenix Regional Police Academy. He has written by invitation for national journals. Mr. Thompson was also an Arizona Superior Court Judge pro tem for eight years. He has practiced before all levels of the American court system, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
