Rossmann was a leading attorney in a giant Southern California fight over transferring large amounts of water from the Imperial Valley to the thirsty coastal cities of Los Angeles and San Diego. After six years of litgation, a Sacramento County Superior court judge found unconsitutional a series of water contracts that made the transfer possible. The decision was a victory for Rossmann's client, Imperial County, which is concerned that shipping water out of the valley will shrink the Salton Sea and worsen the area's air pollution.
Another of Rossmann's lengthy legal battles also ended in victory this year -- his fight on behalf of the state of Nevada, which has been resisting the federal government's plan to store nuclear waste in Yucca Mountain. Congress refused to fund the plan this year and the Energy Department formally withdrew its application to store waste at the site., Top 100 California Attorneys, Los Angeles Daily Journal, 2010
