I am an intellectual property attorney with over 20 years experience in IP acquisition for computer technology. I concentrate my work on software patents, trademark applications, licensing and technology development agreements. I am a Silicon Valley native with experience in-house and in counseling C-level executives in IP development and management. My clients range from start-ups to multinational public companies.

Recent patent experience includes drafting patents for network management, protocols such as TCP/BGP, video/television/streaming media, object-oriented software, anti-spam and mail threat handling, backup systems, laptop image management, Web 2.0, QoS, VoIP, speech recognition, voice mail, cryptography, office automation, Web Services, 3D graphics, digital imaging, e-supply chain management, and credit card processing.

Recent agreement experience includes transactions in financial services, software development, and open source licensing including BSD, LGPL and GPL 2.0.

Recent trademark experience includes 100+ applications worldwide for a Fortune 500 manufacturer of solar power products including managing foreign agents in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia; negotiating a concurrent use agreement among consumer products companies; and handling trademark filings that require detailed understanding of networking technologies.

Recent other projects included: anonymously performing patent acquisitions; chairing patent review committees and managing prosecution of over 1000 applications for a large networking company; negotiating software license agreements; handling trademark disputes before the USPTO.

I am a registered patent attorney and admitted to practice in California, the District of Columbia, the US Courts of Appeals for the 9th and Federal Circuits, and the California District Courts.

I hold a B.A., cum laude Communication Arts 1986, Loyola Marymount University, and a J.D. 1989, University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
