MICHAEL J. HADDAD is an AV rated attorney and a partner in Haddad & Sherwin, in Oakland, California.  Mr. Haddad is a leader in the field of civil rights law, and regularly teaches and advises other attorneys.  The majority of his practice is related to representing plaintiffs in police misconduct and other civil rights litigation, including wrongful police shootings, wrongful death, excessive force, and municipal liability.  Mr. Haddad has successfully tried and handled numerous police misconduct and civil rights cases in federal and state courts, including a $1.2 million verdict in the Eastern District of California for the wrongful death shooting of a mentally ill man, a $3.5 million settlement for the family of a police officer killed by "friendly fire," numerous million dollar cases, and several injunctive relief settlements to improve police department policies and procedures.  Mr. Haddad also currently serves as President of the National Police Accountability Project (NPAP).  Previously, Mr. Haddad was a partner in the firm of Goodman, Eden, Millender & Bedrosian, in Detroit, Michigan, widely acknowledged as the first racially integrated law firm in the United States.  He graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1991.  He has been selected as a Northern California Super Lawyer 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012.  His reported cases include Wilkins v.
