Profile
Aashish Y. Desai handles class actions involving antitrust, consumer, and wage-and-hour law. He has been widely published, and regularly and passionately speaks at seminars, on the topics of class and collective actions. For two years he served as an Adjunct Professor at Chapman University School of Law, teaching legal writing (2004-2006). Mr. Desai obtained a landmark judgment for $2.1 million in attorney's fees on a $1.2 million settlement of an FLSA overtime class action. This ruling made headlines because it set a standard for how fees are calculated when defense counsel unnecessarily obstructs the litigation and refuses to settle until the bitter end. Parks v. Eastwood Insurance, Inc., 2005 WL 6007833 (C.D. Cal. 2005).
