Douglas W. Schroeder is the founder of the Law Offices of Douglas W. Schroeder, in Costa Mesa, California. He is a nationally respected trial lawyer who handles complex civil litigation in both state and federal courts throughout the nation. His practice areas include aviation law, personal injury and wrongful death, product liability and insurance disputes, where he represents survivors of tragedies and policyholders who have encountered wrongly denied insurance benefits.
Lawyer Douglas Schroeder was admitted to the California Bar in 1988, after graduating cum laude from Western State University College of Law, where he served as editor of the Law Review. He associates with licensed local attorneys throughout the nation to appear before courts pro hac vice in states where he is not licensed.
Mr. Schroeder regularly publishes material and teaches courses and seminars on personal injury and wrongful death litigation. He has been consulted and retained as an expert witness on personal injury and wrongful death and has been frequently invited to lecture at some of the nation’s top legal seminars.
Mr. Schroeder played a critical role in the landmark product liability appeal of Carrillo v. ACF Industries, Inc. 20 Cal. 4th 1158 (1999). He was winning counsel at trial and on appeal in the groundbreaking case of Hiser v. Bell Helicopter Textron Inc.,111 Cal. App. 4th 640 (2003), recovering $11.2 million for the widow of a pilot killed after his helicopter fuel system malfunctioned during a fire suppression mission.
Mr. Schroeder has been selected by his legal peers for inclusion in the California Super Lawyers listing every year since 2007. He has also been named as an AV-rated* lawyer for preeminent legal ability and outstanding ethical standards by Martindale-Hubbell.
