Profile
Santa Ana, California, attorney James R. Traut has been standing up for people who have been victimized by the negligent or wrongful actions of others for more than 30 years. One of fewer than 100 California attorneys certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, James represents plaintiffs in personal injury and wrongful death cases involving vehicle accidents, bike accidents, workplace and construction site accidents, property owner negligence and defective products. He also represents assault and molestation victims in civil lawsuits, policyholders in insurance bad-faith litigation, and individuals pursuing legal malpractice claims against previous counsel. His record of success in these cases includes hundreds of six- and seven-figure settlements, arbitration awards and trial verdicts.
James received his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University Law School and was admitted to the California Bar in 1978. He holds an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and has received numerous other professional honors as well, including Trial Lawyer of the Year awards from the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) organization for 2009, and from the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association for 2002.
