Profile

Mr. Callahan has in his 45+ years of active practice tried more that 250 cases to verdict in various counties, and has had a  Martindale "AV" rating  for three decades. He taught civil procedure at a local law school, continues to lecture statewide at various CLE seminars, and has been a Presenter at the American Board of Trial Advocates' "Masters in Trial" series. He has been a member of ABOTA since 1976 and holds their highest rank of Diplomat. He is on the Editorial Board of The Defense Counsel Journal of the International Association of Defense Counsel. Mr Callahan maintains an office in both the Irvine and San Francisco offices of the firm.

In addition to his very active trial schedule, Mr. Callahan has testified as an expert witness in depositions and in court on the topics of Civil Procedure, Trial Tactics, Professional Malpractice, Employment Law, Insurance Bad Faith, Commercial Litigation, Intellectual Property and related areas of specialty.

He is a 2010 graduate of the 42 hour training program "Mediating the Litigated Case" presented by the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution of Pepperdine University School of Law, as well as other mediation training seminars, and has successfully resolved lawsuits as a mediator throughout the state for 25 years.

Mr. Callahan is married to his wife of 45 years and has two adult daughters, one an attorney and the other a doctor of psychology, and has been blessed with four grandchildren.

He is a Life Member of the Academic Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, The American legion and The Special Forces Association.

  • Mr. Callahan's community involvement includes service on the Board of Trustees of Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii, and he has served on the Industry Advisory Committee of the National Institute of the National Istitue of Forensic Studies. He has served as special counsel for the California Paralyzed Veterans of America and was on the founding board of the Orange County Catholic Lawyers Association (now the St. Thomas More Society). He has served on the Board of Governors of the Irish American partnership and on the Board of Directors of Community Incentives for Teaching Excellence and for the last two decades and currently serves on the Board of the Orange County Legal Foundation.
