Profile

Phil Michels heads the Law Offices of Michels & Watkins, one of California's premier medical malpractice and child injury law firms for over 25 years. He is a frequent lecturer and author on trial tactics and case management. He is also the vice president of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles and was their Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2003. He and his firm have achieved some of the highest verdicts in California for child drownings, sexual assault, wrongful death and birth injuries. The American Trial Lawyers Association named him one of their Top 100 Trial Lawyers in 2008 and he is a State Bar of California medical malpractice specialist. He is an elected member of the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys and the American Board of Trial Advocates and is also a member of American Association for Justice, Consumer Attorneys of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.  Mr. Michels received his B.A. from UCLA in 1966, his M.A. from UCSB in 1969, and his J.D. from UCLA Law School in 1973.
