A well-known business trial lawyer, Phil Bartenetti has practiced law for over 35 years. Phil joined Clark & Trevithick as a principal in 1979. His areas of expertise include general business litigation with an emphasis on unfair competition, securities arbitration, corporate dissolution and shareholder disputes. Throughout his practice, Phil has represented a variety of clients, including banks, insurance companies and stock brokerage houses. He has also spent time advising clients on advertising liability and product liability and representing companies before public agencies such as the Board of Public Works. During his career, Phil has been very active in professional activities. He has served on several committees of the Los Angeles Bar Association, including a two-year term as a trustee of the Association. In addition, Phil served for four years on the California State Bar Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation, which, at the request of the governor, evaluates candidates being considered for appointment to all courts of the state of California from the municipal courts to the Supreme Court. During his last year on the commission, he held the position of chairman. He is currently serving his second term as President of the Italy America Chamber of Commerce West, as well as being past-president of the Italian American Lawyers Association. He also is a frequent lecturer on topics of general interest to lawyers and business people. Phil graduated with honors from the University of San Francisco in 1964. After a two-year stint as a lieutenant in the United States Army, he received his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in 1970. He was an editor of the law review and graduated Order of the Coif. A very active alumnus, he has been honored with several alumni service awards. He has also been commended for his achievements in law by a province of Italy, Regione Puglia, with the award of a Targa D'Oro.
