Dean Neuwirth graduated summa cum laude and phi beta kappa from Princeton University in 1982, and magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1986. In 1986-1987 he was a law clerk for Judge John L. Kane, Jr., of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. In 1987 he began private practice as a commercial litigator. In the mid-1990s he added criminal defense work to his practice, particularly white-collar criminal defense in corporate settings. In 1999 he started handling appeals with Jean Dubofsky, a nationally-known appellate lawyer who had served as the first female justice on the Colorado Supreme Court before returning to private practice. Justice Dubofsky personally trained Dean in all aspects of appellate advocacy. For the years 2006-2011, Dean has been listed in the field of appellate law in The Best Lawyers in America and in Colorado's "Super Lawyers" magazine.
