Profile
During law school, Mr. Chayet's grandmother was the principal party in one of the most controversial elder law cases in the State of Colorado. The Estate of Milstein v. Ayers, 955 P.2d 78 (Colo. App. 1998) is a landmark case which upholds the right to counsel and due process of incapacitated adults in a Colorado guardianship proceeding. This experience was the impetus for Mr. Chayet's career in the field of elder law and probate litigation. Mr. Chayet is Co-Chairman of the Elder Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association and Chair of the Surrogate Decision Making Committee of the American Bar Association. He is also an active member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and frequently lectures and publishes in the area of elder law and probate litigation.
