Other Outstanding Achievements:

  • Consultant for a start-up not-for-profit organization and currently on the Board of Directors.  Result:  Program delivered over 1,000 dogs to deaf/blind clients and helped establish International programs in Japan and Norway. Created endowment fund with dollars received from bequests, which has sustained it through economic giving cycles.
  • Redesigned an accounting system to permit real-time distributed access to divisions and departments to allow instant access to the data.  Project Managers initially had received financial information 15-20 days after the end-of-the-month and projects were mainly finished within reporting period with no information to use to trace actual-to-budget figures.  Result:  Project Managers were better able to monitor existing projects, price-out change orders of contract extensions and bid new projects.
  • Created a procurement group including personnel recruitment, process and procedure development and standardized forms.  Result:  Saved more than 10% on purchases and ensured that risk reduction contractual provisions were included in more than 90% of the contract agreements.
  • Planned a phased introduction of computer software and hardware for a legal firm.  Researched computerized models, developed cost proposals and planned implementation.  Result:  Integrated database and calendaring system.  Reorganized workflows and downsized staff, which equated to a cost savings in excess of 30%.
  • Created risk management protocols, hired an assessment consultant and reformed processes and procedures to implement recommendations for the facilities of a start-up entity which built internet data centers.  Client was required to secure E&O insurance prior to opening and was in need of developing an operational track record to compete with existing companies.  Result:  Secured E&O insurance within the deadline at costs comparable to entities which had an operational track record.
  • Negotiated and implemented a buy-sell plan with former employees and created phased employment for a client who wanted to bring children into the business within a 7-year phase-in period.  Result: Company is currently family controlled and existing management employees remained as executive employees of the company.
  • Developed a “fast track” negotiation and documentation process for a client requiring speedy acquisitions in a national “roll-up” program versus two other roll-up programs.  Result:  Completed 32 acquisitions in 18 months with no acquisition losses to the other roll-up entities.
  • Devised a non-bankruptcy liquidation plan for a company ceasing operations with $230M in liabilities and commitments and with a cash position of only $3M.  Result:  Within 16-months the company was turned over to the remaining employee (CEO) with $500K in liabilities, one lease commitment and $3M in cash.  Potential remained for a sale or lease of the remaining facilities and return of capital to investors.
  • Restructured Construction Company through changes in process and procedure for accounting, human resources, risk management and insurance and performance measurement; modified entity structure and secured outside financing at 6 times the level of existing financing.
  • Negotiated a new lease at a lower rental rate and managed a remodeling project to include HVAC system expansion, thereby creating space for an expanded staff.  Result:  Saved dollars while improving the work environment.
  • Restructured a disjointed Office Administration by moving the reporting structure from Human Resources to Procurement.  Result:  Costs were controlled and routed through centralized purchasing.
  • Reorganized Tax Department by developing a reporting structure through the Legal Department vs. the Finance Department.  Result:  Structuring was successfully coordinated between legal and tax and more than $1M saved in transaction taxes.

Educational Background:
