Admitted to the California State Bar in 1978, Leeland Cole-Chu is a Martindale Hubbell 'av' trial and land use attorney, mediator and arbitrator. He won at trial and on appeal Caulkins v. Petrillo (seminal case on Connecticut's Home Improvement Act), Texaco v. Golart (specific performance of real estate option), and Norwich v. Housing Authority (municipal powers). He won FDIC v. Roberti, 201 B.R. 614 (treble damages nondischargeable). With CCLU attorney Martin Margulies, he won Chester v. Willey, 4 Conn. L. Rptr. 161 (1991) (citizens’ privilege to complain about attorneys). In addition to the clients listed below, he has represented Texaco, Pfizer Inc., the FDIC, Resolution Trust Corporation, The City of Norwich; The Norwich Housing Authority, The Town of Salem, SECTER, Mills Pride Inc., Mystic Art Association, the Connecticut College faculty, numerous lenders, other organizations, and many individuals. He is a graduate of Harvard University, Occidental College (M.A., Urban Studies) and the University of San Francisco School of Law.
