Paul has spent more than 18 years working on and trying medical malpractice cases in state and federal courts. Paul spent the first 13 years of his legal career defending doctors and hospitals in such cases. Since joining Stratton Faxon, Paul has been handling medical malpractice cases exclusively on behalf of plaintiffs. Over the past 10 years, Paul has tried dozens of medical malpractice cases to verdict. During that same time, Paul has argued several important cases before the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Connecticut Supreme Court. Highlights of Paul's practice include: (1) $3.6 million (providing over $10 million in lifetime benefits) settlment of a birth trauma case resulting in permanent brain injury; (2) jury verdict of $1.56 million on behalf of a patient who was forced to undergo an unnecessary lung resection because of a pathologist's misdiagnosis of cancer; (3) $5.25 million settlement with a hospital and surgeon in connection the failure to timely diagnose and treat an occluded iliac artery following abdominal surgery which necessitated an above-knee amputation of the patient's left leg. Paul is a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA).
