Glenn L. Widom is a partner of Silver, Garvett & Henkel. He has an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell and has been practicing law for approximately 14 years. His primary areas of practice are business litigation, including complex commercial cases, and white collar criminal defense. He has broad experience in contract negotiation and resolution of disputes arising from business dealings, real estate-related transactions, employment, unfair competition and trade practices, fraud, and construction. Glenn represents trustees and receivers of insolvent entities and failed businesses, including the conduct of investigations and the bringing of claims arising from fraudulent conduct. He has defended numerous individuals and corporations in criminal investigations and prosecutions involving allegations of mail and wire fraud, securities law violations, health care fraud, bank fraud, and Lacey Act violations. Glenn has tried cases in both federal and state courts to judges and juries, prosecuted appeals in Florida's Third District Court of Appeals and in the U.S. Eleventh Circuit, mediated disputes, and arbitrated before the American Arbitration Association. He is admitted to practice before all Florida state courts, and the U.S. District Courts in the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.Prior to joining Silver, Garvett & Henkel in 2004, Glenn practiced in the areas of complex commercial litigation, including class actions, antitrust, and securities law cases, and white-collar criminal matters at the Miami office of the national law firm of Zuckerman Spaeder LLP (2002-04) and the Miami firm of Hanzman & Criden, P.A. (1994-02). Glenn is a proud Florida Gator, having obtained a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Finance, with honors, from the University of Florida in 1984. He attended law school at the University of Miami where he earned his Juris Doctorate degree cum laude in 1994. Between college and law school, Glenn obtained extensive experience in the banking industry, primarily as Vice President of mortgage lending and loan servicing for Citizens Federal Savings & Loan (1986-90), where he supervised over 80 employees and operations in five states. He was also a loan officer with Commonwealth Savings & Loan (1984-86).Glenn is a member of the Miami-Dade County Bar Association and various other professional and charitable organizations, including Lawyers for Children of America. Glenn is the Co-Founder and Chairman of the annual Keymorada Invitational Tournament (
www.keymoradafishing.com) which event has raised over $1 million since 2005 to benefit the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. In 2007, Glenn was elected to the Board of Trustees for CCFA's Florida Chapter. He is also on the Board of Directors for Temple Beth Am in Pinecrest, Florida.Glenn is married with two children and is an avid fly-fisherman.
