LOCAL AND NATIONAL DEBATE

In November 2007, Charles H. Kuck, managing partner of Kuck Casablanca & Odom LLC, testified before Congress on immigration reform, urging the legislation necessary to change immigration laws for the benefit of all Americans.

“As immigration lawyers, what we do is shape the future destiny of America,” says the nationally recognized immigration law expert.

Kuck, once again named to the Georgia Super Lawyers® list, is national President-Elect of the 11,000-member American Immigration Lawyers Association. In addition, he is an adjunct professor at the University of Georgia School of Law.

IMMIGRATION LAW EXPERTS

At Kuck Casablanca & Odom LLC, a 12-attorney, 14-paralegal firm with offices in five locations in Georgia and Florida, Kuck’s practice involves assisting employers and employees with business and professional visas, labor certifications, immigrant visas, consular representation and citizenship matters for foreign executives, managers, professionals and lesser-skilled workers. His clients include Fortune 500 companies, technology firms, manufacturers, multinational corporations and individual investors and entrepreneurs, as well as individual immigrants and asylum seekers.

ENFORCEMENT

He also advises employers on compliance procedures in verifying the work eligibility of all new employees as required under the newly enforced “employer sanctions” provisions of federal law. This includes not only standard I-9 audit assistance, but the defense of an employer during an immigration “raid.”

“Lost in the current debate on immigration law is the ongoing and increasing enforcement against companies for breaking laws that are, in reality, very difficult to understand and comply with,” Kuck says.

PRO BONO

Kuck’s love of immigration law developed as a young attorney while taking Central American pro bono asylum cases. Two years into this odyssey in immigration court, he realized he had an immigration practice. For Kuck, nothing matches seeing clients walk out of an asylum hearing smiling in relief because they know they are safe in America for the rest of their lives.

Kuck Casablanca & Odom continues to make pro bono work a significant part of its practice, working extensively with Catholic Charities’ Unaccompanied Refugee Minor Program. Kuck also serves as a mentor to non-immigration lawyers who handle pro bono immigration and political asylum cases.

Helping to shape what America will look like in the future and assisting clients fulfill their hope of the American dream inspires Kuck, while the firm’s growth and success speaks for itself. “We have found that if you deliver excellent, aggressive service, based on a comprehensive knowledge of the law, and charge fairly for it, success will be the result,” says Kuck.

Testimonials

"My Platinum profile ad has definitely paid off! My law firm is a boutique five-attorney law firm in San Francisco that had never advertised prior to this, except in Martindale-Hubbel. We have been a traditional insurance defense firm, and wanted to subtly let people know that we also do select plaintiff's cases. In the last quarter of 2006, we were retained in three significant plaintiff's cases, two of which are high-profile media cases. I also placed an ad in the Super Lawyers section of San Francisco magazine, to reach non- lawyers. Now, people at the gym, the coffee shop, the drycleaners tell me they had no idea what I do, and they will come to me when they need a lawyer. So, the ad also worked to reach non-lawyers in the community as well."

"In the last six months I have received more than a dozen calls off my Super Lawyers profile. At least half of the people calling became new clients."
