Melanie McCorkle Ellwanger is a former DUI Court Prosecutor and former Senior Associate with Head Thomas Webb & Willis.  She founded Melanie M. Ellwanger, Attorney at Law in 2014.  Today, she represents clients in criminal defense, including DUI defense, traffic violations, misdemeanors and probation revocatiosn.  She is honored to have served the residents of Georgia for during her career, especially those in the Atlanta metro area.

Ms. Ellwanger joined the law firm of Head, Thomas, Webb & Willis, LLC, in 2010. As an associate with the firm, she brought years of experience handling criminal law cases to the firm, including an extensive background as a criminal prosecutor. While in law school, Ms. Ellwanger clerked for Andrew, Merritt, Reilly & Smith and focused on corporate law, probate law and estate planning. She then worked at Whelchel and Dunlap in criminal and civil law. After receiving her law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law, Ms. Ellwanger clerked for the Hall County Public Defender’s Office. She was hired as an Assistant Solicitor for the Forsyth County Solicitor General’s Office where she prosecuted approximately 1,000 cases that mostly included traffic crimes, DUI misdemeanors and domestic violence offenses.

Ms. Ellwanger received special training through NHTSA and completed the DUI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) program. She also completed an intensive class in forensic breath testing through the National College for DUI Defense and attended its summer program in July 2010. She also co-authored a handbook, "Elements of Civil Action," with , William C. Head, which was published in 2011.
