Hal Meeks has tried well over 100 bench and jury trials and binding arbitrations in substantive areas including medical malpractice defense, securities defense, construction claims, unfair competition, and commercial and contract disputes. He has extensive experience representing a broad range of businesses, including securities firms and individual brokers, hospitals and physicians, wholesalers and retailers, contractors and owners, insurers and insureds. Verdicts and Settlements:

  • Among numerous verdicts and awards, these may illustrate the breadth of litigation experience: defense verdict for physicians in medical malpractice case involving patient death; verdict for $1.5 million in favor of wholesaler in dispute with vendor who failed to deliver product;  award of over $5 million in punitive damages against competing securities firm for tortious interference with contract; have both obtained and avoided injunctions for securities firms and their employees in times of transition of personnel; award for a landowner in fight over scope of easement rights across his property; judgment for supplier in dispute with other creditor as to priority rights to collateral securing debt; award over $1.2 million for health insurer against an outside agent who assisted a group in obtaining coverage through fraudulent misrepresentations, award of over $1million for owner against contractor involving construction defects in airplane hangar complex.
