Profile

Ms. Gamrath began her legal career as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Thomas R. Rakowski of the First District Illinois Appellate Court. She joined Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP in late 1997 and concentrates in all types of matrimonial matters. Ms. Gamrath is a skilled writer, researcher, and trial and appellate advocate. She has argued and presented cases successfully to the Illinois Supreme, Appellate and Circuit Courts. Ms. Gamrath has taught as an adjunct faculty member of The John Marshall Law School. Ms. Gamrath is an active bar leader and frequent author and lecturer. She has published articles for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education (IICLE), Illinois Bar Journal, Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, Appellate Law Review, Chicago Lawyer, and other legal publications. Her comprehensive paper on Motions to Vacate and Reconsider Judgments is presented from time to time by judges and taught to new judges at the Illinois Judicial Conference.

Bar/Professional Activity: Ms. Gamrath is Secretary of The John Marshall Law School Board of Trustees.  She is a past member of the Illinois State Bar Association Board of Governors and a current Board member of the ISBA Mutual Insurance Company.  She serves/has served on the ISBA General Assembly, and multiple committees, including Strategic Planning, Unauthorized Practice of Law (former Secretary), Women and the Law (former Chair), Bench and Bar, and the Young Lawyers Division.  She is a past President of the Justinian Society of Italian American Lawyers, a past Director of the Appellate Lawyers Association, and a past Chair of the Chicago Bar Association Alliance for Women.  The Illinois Supreme Court appointed Ms. Gamrath to serve on its Character and Fitness Committee and the Legislative Family-Law Study Committee created by House Resolution 1101.  The U.S. District Court appointed her to serve on the Selection and Merit Review Committees for U.S. Magistrate Judges.
Pro bono/Community Service: Ms. Gamrath is Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Bar Foundation.  She is a member of the Chicago Bar Foundation's Abraham Lincoln Circle of Justice and a Fellow of the Illinois Bar Foundation.  Both Foundations are directed at providing equal access to justice to the disadvantaged through grants, advocacy, and other programs.
Scholarly Lectures and Writings: Ms. Gamrath writes and lectures extensively on various legal topics. She is a five-time award recipient in the Annual Illinois State Bar Association Lincoln Writing Contest.  Her works have appeared in the Illinois Bar Journal, Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, American Journal of Family Law, Appellate Law Review, and other legal publications.  She is co-author of a chapter on Marital Settlements Agreements published by IICLE and writes monthly columns for IICLE and The Chicago Lawyer.  
Representative Clients: Women and men who want the best possible representation in pre-decree and post-decree family law matters.  Their cases generally involve the distribution of multi-million-dollar holdings and require sophisticated financial expertise. 
Other Outstanding Achievements: Ms. Gamrath has been recognized nationally as a top family law and appellate lawyer by Best Lawyers in America, Chicago Magazine's Illinois Super Lawyers as a Top 50 Female Attorney, and the Leading Lawyers Network of Top Family Law Lawyers.  In October 2006, the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County honored her for her work as part of the Italian-Heritage Month of Celebration. In 2005, she received a Distinguished Service Award from The John Marshall Law School.   In 2003, the Illinois State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division named Ms. Gamrath "Young Lawyer of the Year," and the Women's Division of the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans awarded her the 2003 Impresa Award.  In 2002, Ms. Gamrath was named by Law Bulletin Publishing Company as one of "40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch" and she also received the Alta May Hulett Award from the Chicago Bar Association Alliance for Women.  Ms. Gamrath has successfully represented clients at all three levels of the state court system. 
Educational Background: Ms. Gamrath graduated cum laude from The John Marshall Law School (J.D.) in 1994 and from Indiana University (B.S. in Business) in 1991.
