Profile
Laurel G. Bellows is a nationally recognized attorney whose contributions to the legal profession are highly regarded. She is the founder and principal of The Bellows Law Group, P.C., in Chicago, Illinois, and she represents executives in the United States and throughout the world.
Ms. Bellows is an experienced business lawyer, representing C-suite executives in transition, including those who are contemplating change or anticipating job elimination. She counsels companies and executives of companies facing a change in control, reorganization or downsizing; executives considering new employment, private equity investment, forming new companies, partnerships or ventures; and human resources executives.
Attorney Laurel Bellows has earned many distinctions and honors, including:
- The Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Award in recognition of her accomplishments in the field of law, and for paving the way to success for other women lawyers, awarded by the American Bar Association Commission on Women in the Profession
- The Judge Learned Hand Award for her commitment to the rights of individuals and the importance of democratic values in an orderly society by the American Jewish Committee
- One of the 25 Most Influential Working Mothers in the country, Working Mother Magazine
- Selected for inclusion in the Super Lawyers listing every year since 2005
Ms. Bellows was nominated as president-elect of the American Bar Association in August, 2011. Laurel is admitted and qualified as an attorney and counselor before the Supreme Court of the United States. She is a mediator, certified through the Institute for Conflict Management.
Laurel is an active community leader, serving on the board of directors of the Women's Business Development Center and is a past chair and active member of The Chicago Network.
Ms. Bellows has taught classes and legal seminars on subjects that include negotiation, issues of concern to women, retention of women in corporations and law firms, and best practices for achieving diversity in corporations and law firms.
