Criminal narcotics conviction involving issue of the admissibility of the defendant’s juvenile criminal record. *Represented by Williams & Marcus, Ltd.
Two (2) cases in the 1970’s defending Petitions for Certiorari as an Assistant Attorney General in workers’ compensation cases alleging infringement of Constitutional Due Process and Equal Protection.
First case fully briefed and argued.

Social Security Disability case stating multiple holdings regarding credibility of doctors chosen by parties, weight to be given treating and examining doctors, and interpretation of claimant’s failure to seek treatment, delays in seeking treatment and testimony concerning daily routine and disability.

This case holds the prohibition of an appeal of a workers’ compensation case to the judiciary is valid pursuant to the Separation of Powers doctrine.
Moreland v. Industrial Commission, 47 Ill. 2d 273, 265 N.E.2d 161 (Ill. 1970)
This case prohibits lump sum payments of benefits from the Second Injury Fund and requires installment payments only.
Illinois Appellate Court:
Contreras v. Industrial Commission, 306 Ill.App.3d 1071, 715 N.E.2d 701 (1st Dist. 1999)
This case dismissed the appeal of the appellant as a judicial sanction for an unreasonable time in providing the record on review of 14 months in a workers’ compensation case.
Fermi Nat’l Accelerator Lab v. Industrial Commission, 224 Ill.App.3d 899, 586 N.E.2d 750 (2d Dist 1992)
This case held the employer is responsible for an injury not related to work that is caused by the weakened condition of the petitioner from a work-related injury.
McCulla v. Elk Grove Village Fire Dept., 232 Ill.App.3d 517, 597 N.E.2d 875 (1st Dist. 1992)
This case dealt with the interrelationship of the Workers’ Compensation Act and the Police and Firefighters Pension Act and the respective benefits available under each system, ultimately holding a claim under one statute is not collateral estopped or res judicata as to the other.

Circuit Court of Cook County & Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission:
Saffold v. Industrial Commission, 00 WC 15622
Circuit Court reversal of Workers’ Compensation Commission’s finding that intoxication of petitioner of 7.25% blood alcohol level (10 quarts of beer) was so extreme as to prevent arm amputation to be caused by work factors and holding: (1) the accident arose out of and in the course of employment, and (2) awarded a pension from the Second Injury Fund.
Baxter v. County of Cook, 05 WC 29387
Large award of 66 2/3% loss of use of the whole man after trial before the Workers’ Compensation Commission. Then, decision by the Workers’ Compensation Commission that the full award was payable to petitioner’s widow after death from non-work related cause after the award but before the award became final.
