Stephen M. Komie is the founding principal of Komie & Associates, a Chicago civil and criminal litigation firm serving clients in Illinois, throughout the U.S. and across the globe. Mr. Komie's career as an attorney spans more than 35 years, during which he has represented thousands of ordinary people, members of the clergy, corporations and others in cases before state courts, federal courts and international tribunals.
Mr. Komie has earned national recognition for the skill he has demonstrated and the results he has achieved in high-profile criminal and civil cases widely covered by both local and national media. He has also had extensive success as an appellate lawyer. His most notable successes include acquittals in the trials of Shawn Dunn for mail and wire fraud, John Carroccia for murder, Brendan Nolan for sale and distribution of drugs, Casey Kalicki for incest, Sandra Fabiano for child sexual abuse and several judges charged with drunk driving (DUI).
Mr. Komie is a life-long resident of the Lincoln Park neighborhood in Chicago and a 1976 graduate of DePaul University College of Law. He was recently elected to serve a fifth three-year term on the Illinois State Bar Association's board of governors.
