William (Bill) A. Verdicts and Settlements:

  • M.T. v. Ingalls Memorial Hospital, $7,000,000 Wrongful Death-Verdict (Illinois): The hospital used a emergency room technician instead of a registered nurse to evaluate a four and half year old girl brought to the hospital with fever and severe headaches. Because of his lack of training and experience, the tech missed the little girl's stiff neck and light sensitivity, and made her wait for treatment of bacterial meningitis for almost five hours. The girl died of a brain herniation. The case went to teh jury on non-economic, loss of relationship damages only. The 1st District Appellate Court affirmed the judgment, and the full amount of the judgment and interest was paid.
  • T. B. v. University of Chicago--$3,500,000 Brain Injury Lawsuit-Pretrial Settlement (Illinois); A nurse misread a doctor's order to give a baby .4ml of IV nutrition as being 4.0 ml. The subsequent overdose of the food (Lipids) caused the baby's heart to stop. As a result she lost a leg and suffered a serious brain injury
  • M.O. v. Provena-- $1,850,000 Wrongful Death of a Child Lawsuit-Pretrial Settlement (Illinois)--delayed treatment of bacterial meningitis
  • A.G. v. Rush Medical--$2,000,000 Injury Lawsuit-Pretrial Settlement (Illinois)--Woman eyesight damaged when doctor transplants infected kidney
  • K.A. v. Stroger-- $1,700,000 Wrongful Death Lawsuit-Pretrial Settlement (Illinois)--65 year old woman dies when hospital mismanages her diabetes
  • P.D. v. Michael Reese-- $2,500,000 Surgical Injury-Partial Pretrial Settlement (Illinois)--Doctors missed compartent sndrome resulting in leg amputation
  • B.C. v. Provena-- $2,000,000 Wrongful Death Lawsuit-Pretrial Settlement (Illinios)--Woman bleeds to death while in ICU
  • L.C. v. St. Mary's Medical Center--$3,000,000 Wrongful Death Lawsuit-Pretrial Settlement (Illinois)--Surgical errors led to death.
  • A.H. v. K. Gamble-- $1,500,000 Birth Injury Lawsuit-Pretrial Settlement (Georgia) for a three year-old girl who suffered cerebral palsy due to a delayed emergency cesarean section delivery
