Gary Altman is a principal and founder of Altman & Associates. A member of the Bars of Maryland and D.C., he has practiced law within and beyond the beltway since 1980. The firm's practice is dedicated to estate planning, tax and charitable planning, premarital agreements, business succession, special needs planning, asset protection, and trust and estate litigation. A nationally recognized estate planning authority, lecturer, and author, Gary has thrice been recognized by Washingtonian magazine as among the region's Best Estate Planners as recently as 2008. He has been recognized on the Maryland and Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers lists in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, and has been honored as a Top 100 attorney in the country by Worth magazine in 2007 and 2008.  The firm has an office in Howard County, Columbia, MD as well.

Honors and Awards: Gary has been a  member of the FPA (and its predecessor organizations, ICFP and the IAFP) since 1988. He was a member of the steering committee when both organizations merged that created the National Capital Chapter of the FPA.  He served as the Chapter's first Secretary, Program Director, Treasurer, President-Elect, President 2007 and Chairman 2008. Gary is currently serving on the FPA's Chapter Leadership Resource Council, where he assists FPA chapters throughout the Country., Norma Severns Leadership Award, National Capital Chapter of the Financial Planning Association, 2008
