Profile
For more than 35 years, Jo Benson Fogel has represented Maryland and District of Columbia clients in complex divorce and family-related controversies. Ms. Fogel is the founder of her own law firm in Rockville, Maryland, where she handles family law, property and estate-related matters of every type. She and her firm, however, focus on representing clients who are seeking either a rightful share of retirement benefits, bonuses, estates, property, partnership holdings and other assets, or to preserve marital, professional and family assets. While an experienced and accomplished litigator, Ms. Fogel is also a strong advocate for using alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation to resolve disputes outside of court.
Ms. Fogel holds a bachelor's degree from Duke University, a Juris Doctor from George Washington University Law School and has been certified as a family law specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Her professional honors include an AV Preeminent* peer review rating and several selections for inclusion in both Maryland and Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers listings, and in the annual “Top Lawyers” listings published by Washingtonian magazine.
