Monica Garcia Harms concentrates her practice primarily on family law. Ms. Harms graduated from the University of California Los Angeles, and the George Washington University Law School. Prior to joining the law firm of Stein Sperling, Ms. Harms supervised the Montgomery County Circuit Court Domestic Violence Assistance Project representing victims of domestic violence through the Women's Law Center of Maryland. Ms. Harms practice includes complex family law matters, consisting of divorce, contested custody, child support, domestic violence, separation agreements, post-nuptial agreements, alimony, property distribution, grandparent visitation, contempt/enforcement actions, modification actions, adoptions and guardianships. Ms. Harms is appointed by the court to represent minor children as a Best Interest Attorney and/or Privilege Attorney.Ms. Harms is actively involved in the Montgomery County Bar Association and the Women's Bar Association. She has lectured on issues of divorce, custody and domestic violence for the Montgomery County Commission for Women. Ms. Harms has lectured on how to present Protective Order cases to the Pro Bono Section of the Bar Association. Ms. Harms is co-editor of the Women's Bar Association Monthly Newsletter and coordinates monthly chamber chats with the Montgomery County Circuit Court and District Court Judges for the Bar Association. Ms. Harms is a prior member of the Montgomery County Inns of Court.
