Profile

In every industry there are professionals performing at the top of their game. They get the results, earn the respect of their peers and lead by example. Success is the only outcome they’ll consider—anything else is simply not an option. In the field of medical malpractice law, those leaders are the attorneys at Lubin & Meyer.

Seeking justice for victims of medical malpractice and their families—and prompting policy changes to prevent others from suffering a similar fate—is nothing new for Lubin & Meyer, a firm that in the last decade alone has won more than $500 million in verdicts and settlements for its clients.

The firm’s reputation rests on the tenacity, skill and experience of its attorneys. All six of the firm’s partners are listed in 2009 Massachusetts Super Lawyers® and Rising Stars, with Andrew C. Meyer Jr., the founding partner, and Robert M. Higgins, named in the Top 100 Massachusetts Super Lawyers list.

Lubin & Meyer shows no sign of resting on its groundbreaking verdicts and settlements. In July, Meyer and his two partners, William J. Thompson and Adam R. Satin, had their record-setting $6.1 million verdict upheld by the Supreme Judicial Court—an award they secured for the family of a man killed when a steel stadium gate smashed through a bus windshield. This year, Higgins secured payment on a $13.5 million verdict for the family of a 40-year-old mother who died from an infection. Also this year, partner Krysia J. Syska negotiated a $5 million settlement on behalf of a baby with neurological impairment from a birth injury, and Thompson obtained a $1.7 million settlement for the family of a 24-year-old woman who fell to her instant death from an unsafe structure at a public event.

The firm’s newest additions to the litigation team, Nicholas D. Cappiello, and Benjamin R. Novotny, named to Rising Stars, are clearly following in their mentors’ footsteps, having secured settlements in excess of $2 million in the past year alone.

While the accolades are many and certainly appreciated, the firm’s true legacy is the clients it serves, the burdens it has eased and the lives it has transformed.
