Profile

LISA BRODEUR-McGAN has practiced law since 1990.  She opened her own firm in May 2005, and prior to that she practiced with the firms of Cooley, Shrair, P.C., and Brooks, Sanborn, Smith and Brodeur-McGan, both of Springfield.  Her practice concentrates in civil litigation with an emphasis on wrongful death, civil rights, employment, discrimination, product liability, and professional malpractice law.  She is an experienced member of both the plaintiffs and insurance defense bar.  Lisa is a criminal science and English graduate of Russell Sage College, a women's college, and a law graduate of Western New England College School of Law.  She is married and lives in Western Massachusetts with her husband and two children. Lisa is an active member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, having served on the Executive Management Board, the Nominating Committee, the Task Force opposing the anniversary fees, and the Lawyers in Transition Committee.  She is a past president of the WBA, and has been involved for over 15 years with the Women's Bar Association of Massachusetts and Women's Bar Foundation, statewide organizations that are committed to issues supporting women and children.  She has been involved with several of the WBA's committees, including serving as Co-Chair of the Appointments, Awards and Endorsements Committee, for several years and again currently.  Additionally, in connection with the WBA's Media Committee, she co-wrote, produced and moderated a cable television show entitled "Patient Rights and Responsibilities". Lisa regularly lectures at local grade schools, colleges and multi-state based seminars on a variety of topics, including teacher liability under state law, counselor liability, negligence, and employment issues.  She is considered faculty at Springfield College due to her yearly participation in their graduate course "The Legal Implications of Drugs and Alcohol."  Lisa has also continued to participate in her law school's education programs by serving as a moot court judge, advisor to the trial team and panelist on career opportunities. Lisa has creatively and successfully defended many high profile cases, including those against the City of Holyoke and its officials, and has created important case law while doing so. Lisa is a lifelong resident of Western Massachusetts.
