Profile

In the sleepy little town of Eaton Rapids, 18 miles south of Lansing on the Grand River, sits a building that dates back to the late 1800s.

For approximately 60 years, 239 South Main Street has been a law office. For the past 33 years, it has been home to Attorney Lawrence P. (Larry) Nolan.

Nolan’s voice overflows with pride when he declares, “Not too many lawyers in a general practice can say they’ve practiced law in the same office for 33 years!”

Each year, as the citizens in this small town take pride in preparing for their annual Fourth of July Parade, you can find Nolan hanging the red, white and blue patriotic bunting on the front of his building on Main Street.

It’s always a special time for me because July 1st marks the anniversary of opening my office in 1976, and another year of practice dedicated to helping people in our community,” Nolan states.

Throughout the years, Nolan has enjoyed the highest reputation for honesty, integrity, and for getting the job done.

Two signs hang on the wall inside Nolan’s office. One reads, ”When You Get There, Remember Where You Came From.” The other, ”Never, Never, Never Give Up,” which fits the reputation that Nolan, Thomsen & Villas, P.C. has earned in the legal community.

Nolan serves his profession and his community with incomparable passion. His selection to the 2009 Michigan Super Lawyers® list marks his selection for the fourth consecutive year.

Nolan, throughout his career, has obtained numerous multimillion-dollar jury verdicts and settlements in favor of his clients in personal injury and wrongful death cases. He has also gained the reputation as a successful criminal defense attorney, obtaining a number of acquittals in capital felony cases.

Nolan was elected this year to the State Bar of Michigan’s Board of Commissioners. He continues to serve the Ingham County Bar Foundation as its president, the Michigan Supreme Court Historical Society as its treasurer, the State Bar of Michigan on its Judicial Qualifications Committee, and the Cooley Law School Board of Directors as its vice chairperson.

Nolan states that he enjoys most the time he has with his wife of 29 years, Laurel, and his two children, Bridget and Patrick. He’s also quick to include his little Yorkshire Terrier, Zoey.
