Sam Morgan is a trial lawyer, and since 1990 his practice has focused on employment rights and business disputes. Mr. Morgan's practice is primarily litigation, but it also includes providing advice and counsel to both individual employees and management-side clients seeking to resolve their disputes without litigation. Mr. Morgan pursues and defends against employment-related lawsuits, such as breach of employment contract and wrongful discharge claims, age discrimination, sexual harassment, race discrimination, "Whistleblowers" and other unlawful retaliatory discharge claims, non-payment of wages, sales commissions and overtime pay, the enforcement of restrictive covenants such as non-competition agreements, confidentiality agreements, and disputes over the misappropriation, use and/or disclosure of proprietary information and/or trade secrets. The business lawsuits include minority owner oppression claims, breach of commercial contracts, and a variety of business torts. On the advice and counsel side, Mr. Morgan counsels and advises business owners and human resource on workforce management issues, the development of personnel policies and procedures, discipline and termination decisions, and investigations of sexual harassment complaints and employee misconduct. He also assists both employee and employer clients with employment contracts, executive compensation agreements, and the negotiation of severance pay and separation agreements. Mr. Morgan is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, has been recognized by Michigan Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, and DBusiness "Top Lawyers" since 2006, Crain's Detroit Business' "Top Lawyers,"and he is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America.
