David Hammargren, one of the founding partners of the construction law firm Hammargren and Meyer, P.A., was trained by and worked for one of the industry's largest surety companies underwriting, marketing and servicing all types of contract surety and fidelity bonds. David Hammargren represents commercial contractors, subcontractors, owners, sureties and design professionals in construction-related litigation and arbitration. His experience with a national surety company and as general counsel for a highway/heavy contractor contributes to his cost-effective representation of clients in a variety of construction law matters. His main areas of practice at Hammargren and Meyer, P.A., are construction and surety law, construction litigation, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in the Greater Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area.
Attorney Hammargren cofounded Construction Arbitration & Mediation Services Inc. and frequently arbitrates and mediates construction disputes throughout Minnesota. Selected as a Top 40 (ADR) provider, attorney Hammargren is active in several construction and surety associations including Construction Arbitration and Mediation Services Inc., Associated Builders and Contractors, Associated General Contractors, the Minnesota Surety Association, the Minnesota Utility Contractors Association and the Construction Management Association of America (Minnesota chapter), in which he was a board member in 2008.
Hammargren graduated with honors in 1985 and was admitted to the Minnesota Bar that same year. He is a frequent lecturer on construction law, surety and ADR issues in a number of venues in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, and has been a named to the Super Lawyers list consecutively from 1998 through 2009.
