His acquittal of politician Susan Green on perjury charges in 1993 was named the Case of the Year by Minnesota Law & Politics magazine. Chief Justice Lorie Skjerven Gildea appointed Mr. Bruno to the Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Rules of Criminal Procedure in 2010.
