Elected to the Minnesota Legislature in 1970, Harry rose quickly through the ranks to Speaker of the House, one of the most powerful political positions in the state. During his 14 years in the Legislature, he championed environmental legislation safeguarding the rights of working Minnesotans. Harry paralleled his business and political success by serving in the U.S. Army and in the Minnesota National Guard. He achieved the rank of Major General. In 2006, Harry was appointed Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army and serves as an advisor to the U.S. Army.
