John Stout is an officer and shareholder of Fredrikson & Byron, practicing principally in business organization, finance, and governance. John represents family-owned, closely-held, and publicly-owned businesses in these matters, domestically and internationally. He advises executives and individuals, boards, board committees, directors, and officers on governance, risk assessment, legal compliance, protection against liability and investigations. He has served as an expert witness on corporate governance practices, and frequently writes and speaks on governance subjects. He teaches corporate governance at the University of St. Thomas Law and Business Schools. John is a past director of the National Association of Corporate Directors, and chairs its Minnesota chapter. He is Vice Chair/Chair Elect of the ABA Business Law Section Corporate Governance Committee.
