Karen is a shareholder at Fredrikson & Byron and chair of the firm's Bank & Finance Group, which was recently named by SNL Financial as the top Minnesota M&A Law Firm for Financial Institutions. She has an extensive background in and knowledge of regulatory matters, acquisitions, and payments system issues. Karen advises financial institutions on examination findings and enforcement actions, bank acquisitions and non-bank activities, formation of new banks, new payments and trust products, corporate governance, privacy and information security, USA Patriot Act requirements, and a variety of compliance matters. Prior to joining Fredrikson & Byron, Karen had a 14-year career at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, where she was Senior Vice President in charge of banking supervision and risk management and the Bank's Equal Employment Opportunity Program.
