Profile

Steve Plunkett concentrates his practice on health care and complex insurance defense litigation.  Mr. Plunkett does a great deal of litigation work for self-insured entities and for the firm’s insurance company clients.  He has defended hundreds of cases involving bodily injury to or the death of residents in assisted living or skilled nursing facilities.  He has also defended hundreds of bodily injury claims arising out of automobile accidents and accidents on premises.

After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Minnesota, Mr. Plunkett received his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association, Hennepin County Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute (DRI), and the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association.  He is a member of DRI’s Law Institute which is responsible for the creation and direction of 23 annual seminars.  He is also the recent past chair of the DRI Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee and has previously served as the chair of the Long Term Care subcommittee of the Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee.  With the Law Institute, he oversees the creation, planning and implementation of annual seminars on health care law.  In association with these memberships, Mr. Plunkett has spoken nationally on issues facing long term care facilities and has published many articles on civil practice and procedure.  He is admitted in the state courts of Minnesota and Wisconsin, U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth and Tenth Circuits.
