Thomas Buchanan is a named partner in the 30-lawyer firm McDowell, Rice, Smith & Buchanan, P.C. He concentrates his law practice on complex trial and appellate litigation matters. These include construction, commercial and business, securities, insurance, transportation, injury, and product liability law. He has served as a member of the Kansas Federal Court's civil rules committee and has held all officer positions of the Johnson County Bar Association, including President. Thomas received a Pro Bono Certificate from the Kansas Bar Association in 1990. He was one of four co-founders of the Earl E. O'Connor American Inn of Court. Thomas graduated with a B.A. from Washburn University in 1977 and from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1980.
