Profile
As a partner at Shamberg, Johnson & Bergman in Kansas City, Missouri, attorney Victor (Vic) A. Bergman represents ordinary American citizens against powerful business, insurance and government interests. Vic has handled virtually every type of personal injury case during his career but has a primary focus on cases involving catastrophic and fatal injuries.
He has particularly extensive experience and success with trucking accident cases, injuries caused by defective or unreasonably dangerous products and birth injury-related lawsuits. His record of favorable settlements and verdicts in each of those areas is remarkable and, in some cases, has also been historic. These include a verdict of $15 million he obtained in the case of Olsen v. Humana, Inc., et al., and an undisclosed settlement obtained for women who were injured and families of those killed by toxic shock syndrome.
Vic is a member of several legal groups, including both the Missouri and Kansas bar associations. He also holds an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell, has been included the "America's Best Lawyers" publication every year since 1987, and has been a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an honor limited to the top 1 percent of trial lawyers nationwide, since 1998.
*AV Preeminent and BV Distinguished are certification marks of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Martindale-Hubbell is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the anonymous opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell peer review ratings fall into two categories: legal ability and general ethical standards.
