Edgar Carranza is a shareholder and Vice President of Backus, Carranza & Burden and has been a member of the law firm since its inception in 1997. He represents and counsels individuals, domestic corporations and foreign corporations in the areas of employment law, restrictive covenants, high paid executive matters, professional liability defense (including physicians, chiropractors, therapists, insurance agents, real estate agents, brokers and mortgage professionals), labor law, product liability, commercial litigation, food liability, insurance defense, premises liability, negligent security, recreational/sports law (including ski litigation, equine/horse litigation and race track litigation), insurance coverage and general commercial litigation. Advance Opinion 60 (December 24, 2009) (affirming summary judgment for Walgreen Co. and the other pharmacy defendants holding that pharmacists do not owe a duty to unknown third parties); Simkins v. Nevadcare, Inc., 229 F.3d 729 (9th Cir. 2000), cert. denied 532 U.S. 957, 121 S.Ct. 1484, 149 L.Ed.2d 372 (2001) (successfully reversing the trial court's granting of summary judgment and entering summary judgment on behalf of Simkins in ERISA related matter); Moses v.
