Honors and Awards:

  • Throughout the years, Gottesman has received numerous honors for his work as an attorney. He has been rated an AV-rated lawyer by his peers through Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest ranking possible with that group, and has been cited as one of the "Best Lawyers in America" for personal injury litigation by the national polling firm Woodward/White Inc. every year since 2003. The National Crime Victim Bar Association recognized Gottesman in October 2004 with the prestigious Frank Carrington Champion of Civil Justice Award, an honor that is presented each year to the one attorney in the nation who best exemplifies a commitment to helping crime victims obtain justice through the civil courts. Gottesman was selected from hundreds of other attorneys for his work in the case of Remsburg v. Docusearch, Inc., in which he represented the estate of 20-year-old Amy Boyer in a lawsuit against an Internet-based information broker who acquired her personal information under false pretenses, and then sold that information to her stalker who later killed her. In June 2004, the NH Trial Lawyers Association honored Gottesman with a Special Recognition Award for his pro bono efforts in support of a New Hampshire man who was killed in one of the September 11, 2001, plane crashes. This award followed Gottesman's 2003 NH Trial Lawyers' Special Recognition Award for establishing privacy standards for information brokers through his work with Remsburg v. Docusearch, Inc. Gottesman has also been honored with the 2003 "Excellence in Law" award by New Hampshire Business Review; the NH Trial Lawyers' 2002 President's Award for service and assistance; the 1999 NH Trial Lawyers' Board of Governors Award for dedication and service; and has received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Civil Justice Foundation for outstanding and dedicated service. He has served as a trustee and president of the Civil Justice Foundation, which is based in Washington D.C. Gottesman has also achieved the level of Advocate in the education programs offered by the American Association for Justice.

Pro bono/Community Service:

  • Gottesman is extremely dedicated to the Greater Nashua community. He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International and past president of the Nashua Rotary West Club. He served as an incorporator, director and chair of the Greater Nashua Division of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. He has also worked with the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce, having served as local affairs chairman, a member of the board of directors and a member of the Downtown Planning Committee. He is the past director of the Boys Club, former trustee for the Nashua Center for the Arts, and was on the Advisory Board for the Care Center. As a legislator, Gottesman sponsored and, played an integral role in the passage of SB42, a state-wide smoking ban in bars and restaurants. He was also a vocal advocate for consumer rights.
