Profile

Mr. Brown has been a practicing attorney since 1985. He is experienced in all phases of litigation and mediation, with an emphasis on family law, commercial and chancery matters. Mr. Brown received his B.A. from Rutgers College, Rutgers University, and his Juris Doctorate from New York Law School. He received a Certification in mediation from the Institute for Dispute Resolution at Seton Hall University Law School in 1994 and is frequently appointed by the Court to mediate family and commercial disputes.  Mr. Brown also maintains an extensive private mediation practice. Mr. Brown has served as a panelist with the Matrimonial Early Settlement Program in Union County since 1986.  He was a member of the Supreme Court (District XII) Ethics Committee and served as its Chair for the 2001 term.  Mr. Brown is a member of the Union County Bar Association, of which he is a Past President, and where he has served as Chairman of the Association’s Family Law, Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments and Activities Committees.  In 2008, he was presented with the prestigious Honorable William J. McCloud Award by the Union County Bar Association for his outstanding contribution to the Superior Court of New Jersey, Family Part in Union County.  In 2008 and 2009, he was named a New Jersey “Super Lawyer.”   He is also a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and serves on the Executive Committee of its Family Law Section; American Bar Association; and the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators. Mr. Brown is a Past President and current member of the Board of Directors of the Cranford Rotary Club, where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow in 2000 in recognition of his service to his community.   He has served as a member and Chairman of the Cranford Zoning Board of Adjustment; as attorney for the Cranford Planning Board, and as a coach in the Police Athletic and Cranford Recreation leagues.
