Mr. Monaghan is one of only a limited number of attorneys who are certified as a Matrimonial Law Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey.  This designation is limited to attorneys who have significant involvement in matrimonial trial matters, have an unblemished reputation as attested by judges and attorneys, have substantial involvement in continuing education, and have passed a rigorous examination on matrimonial law.  Mr. Monaghan was initially named as a New Jersey Rising Star Attorney by Super Lawyers in 2006.  He was again named as a Rising Star in 2007.  In 2009, he was named one of the Top Lawyers in New Jersey by Super Lawyers.  He was again named on the Super Lawyers list in 2010 and 2011.  Mr. Monghan is a Qualifed Mediator pursuant to R. 1:40.  He routinely serves the Court as a mediator in high conflict divorces.  Since 2007,  he has been appointed by the Court over 200 times to assist litigants and their attorneys in resolving cases prior to trial as a Court appointed mediator.  He also serves the Court as a Guardian Ad Litem, providing assistance to the Court in determining the best interests of children in disputed custody cases.  He is also active in Collaborative Law and in 2005, Mr. Monaghan was a founding member of the New Jersey Collaborative Law Group.  He continues to utilize collaborative practice as an alternate method of resolving divorces.  He is a member of the Monmouth County Bar Association, Monmouth County Bar Association Family Law Committee.  He has previously served on the Monmouth County Bar Association Committee on Professionalism.  He is a Master Instructor for the Ocean Monmouth Family Law Inns of Court, which is a mentoring organzation of family law attorneys in the Monmouth and Ocean County area.  Mr.  Monaghan is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Family Law Section, and the American Bar Association, Family Law Section.
