Profile

Mel Eaves has specialized in complex litigation and class actions for 37 years. His firm represented the State of New Mexico in recovering more than $1 billion in tobacco cases and in recovering tens of millions of dollars in unpaid severance taxes from major oil and gas companies. He has sued big corporations that polluted New Mexico’s groundwater, oil and gas companies that underpaid royalties, and insurance companies that charged premiums in breach of their contracts. He has extensive experience in partnership, corporate, and other complex business litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants. Mel is a member of the Board of Regents of UNM.
