Devon Reiff is a tenacious fighter in the courtroom, motivated by his respect and authentic empathy for his clients.

“I view the client who walks through the door as an opportunity in my life to become their hero,” Reiff says. The real reward is not the multimillion-dollar verdicts he has won or the fees. “It is the privilege of successfully championing their case.”

There is a deep compassion he expresses in his client relationships that comes from the early loss of his father in a tragic accident and years later, his own near loss of a leg in an automobile accident. He is gratified when clients receive a just award. “It helps ease their loss,” he says. “And that, in turn, helps soothe my own past losses.”

Inducted into the Fordham University Athletic Hall of Fame for excellence in both swimming and water polo, there were no easy races or short cuts for Reiff. His specialty was the grueling mile free style, which requires dogged determination and endurance.

His unique combination of determination, confidence and compassion serves to create a bond with clients that exceeds a typical lawyer/client relationship. Anxious, angry and fearful when they first walk in his office, his clients say that Reiff makes them feel calm and hopeful, even when facing seemingly impossible odds.

A graduate of Fordham Law School, he was head of a large firm’s negligence department for nearly 20 years until beginning his own firm in 2007. Selected for three consecutive years in Super Lawyers®, he is AV-rated and is on the board of directors and executive committee of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.
