Profile

Abram Bohrer is an attorney experienced in all aspects of aviation accident and disaster litigation. He has represented the families of persons injured or killed in the loss of commercial, private jet and propeller aircraft as well as passengers injured from emergency evacuations and flight attendant inflicted injuries and successfully litigated claims against American, Delta, Continental, El Al Israel, Air Jamaica, Korean Air, Alitalia, Lufthansa, British Airways, Air France, Tower Air, US Airways and others. He was among the attorneys to represent the families of victims killed aboard American Airlines flight 587 which crashed shortly after take-off in the Rockaways on November 12, 2001. Mr. Bohrer brought lawsuits against both the carrier American Airlines for negligence and violations of the Warsaw Convention, and as against Airbus for products liability on the theory that the defective design of the aircraft's rear vertical stabilizer was a cause of the airliner's loss of control and ultimate crash. Mr. Bohrer is among the only attorneys in the entire United States to have successfully tried to verdict a case involving the treaty known as the Warsaw Convention which governs international commercial air travel. This landmark decision scored a major victory for airline passengers rights under the Convention. Mr. Bohrer represented a number of victims and served as a steering committee member of the Staten Island Ferry crash of 2003, as well as victims of the 9/11 terrorist bombings under the government sponsored victims compensation fund.  He is a 1987 graduate of the George Washington University where he received his BA in Economics, and a 1991 graduate of the Touro College, Fuchsberg Law Center where he was on the Dean's List, all semesters, won Best Oral Advocate, and was a member of the Law Review, where he authored "Civil Forfeiture and its Effect on the Presumption of Innocence". He was a Lecturer and Panelist, Federal Discovery, New York State Trial Lawyers Association, April, 1999; Guest Lecturer, Touro College, Fuchsberg Law Center, Products Liability; Senior Partner, Bohrer & Lukeman; Member, New York State Trial Lawyers Association, New York County's Lawyers Association, and a Vice-Chairman, Aviation and Space Law Committee, Tort Law Section of the American Bar Association, 2004-2005, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, New Jersey.
