Verdicts and Settlements: Settlement: $690,000,000: Products Liability-Our firm's involvement and participation in the Zyprexa® product liability litigation yielded a $690 million settlement on behalf of approximately 8,000 injured plaintiffs.  Verdict: $20,350,000: Product liability first verdict in the history of the State of New York against the tobacco industry for the death of a 58 year old smoker.  Verdict: $20,000,000: Train Accident- 16 year old teen whose skull was fractured when he was struck by a NYC subway.  Settlement: $6,000,000: Medical Malpractice for infant who suffered kidney damage at birth due to 1 hour delay by hospital and by obstetrician in not performing an emergency C-section following sinusoidal pattern seen on fetal monitor. Settlement: $1,000,000 Product Liability For eye injury sustained by 35 year old messenger injured by a defective luggage cart/bungee cord.  Verdict: $1,000,000 Medical Malpractice Failure to monitor 4 year old child's blood work during treatment of his bone infection leading to liver and renal failure, internal hemorrhage and surgeries to address same. Settlement: $900,000 Medical Malpractice 82 year old woman presents to emergency room, whose emergency room physicians, once having diagnosed a blocked ureter and back-up of urine as well as infection, failed to perform procedures to relieve these conditions. As result she suffers a cardiac arrest and was re-vived in the hospital, but lived out the next 16 months of her life in a a nursing home. Settlement: $899,999 Auto Accident Road worker's truck was hit in the rear while parked on highway doing work. Plaintiff was a decorated Desert Strom veteran and suffered herniated disc and required spinal laminectomy following as result of the accident. Verdict: $750,000 Medical Malpractice Botched face lift resulting in permanent damage (numbness and pain) to the greater auricular nerve innervating one side of the Plaintiff's face. Settlement: $725,000 Medical Malpractice Hospital failed to diagnose fractured nose in 32 year old who presented to emergency room following an assault outside a restaurant. Hospital discharged him hours after he presented, and 2 days later he was re-admitted with sinusitis, abscess and other infections in the sinus and skull which resulted in loss of consciousness, coma, and resulting death.
