James (Jim) R. Winkler is a partner in the firm of Winkler, Kurtz, Winkler & Kuhn, LLP, located in the community of Port Jefferson Station in Suffolk County, New York. For more than 30 years, Jim has focused his practice on matrimonial and family law matters of every type, including prenuptial and post-marital agreements, legal separations, contested and uncontested divorces, child custody and visitation issues, property division and post-divorce modification of custody, visitation and support orders.

Jim graduated with cum laude honors from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1971 and from Albany Law School of Union University in 1976. In the years since, he has received numerous professional awards and recognitions, including an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and multiple inclusions in the New York Super Lawyers listings for matrimonial and family law. Jim is also active in a number of community-oriented, civic-minded and legal organizations, including the Suffolk County Bar Association (past president), the Matrimonial Bar Association of Suffolk County (past president) and the New York State Bar Association.
