Profile

Jeffrey A. Block, a member of the New York State and Florida Bars, founded the law firm in 1989 after graduating from Brooklyn Law School. He began his prolific career as a trial attorney after only being admitted to the New York State Bar for three weeks. He handles significant construction accidents, tractor trailer accidents, medical malpractice cases, premises liability cases and motor vehicle accidents for the firm.

Mr. Block is highly regarded for his career in the courtroom and is often called upon by fellow trial attorneys to serve as trial counsel on their significant cases. In fact, over the last two years, Mr. Block has been elected as a "Super Lawyer" in New York State, recognizing him as one of the top 5% of New York personal injury trial lawyers.

He honed his reputation as a young lawyer by achieving astounding results on cases that other attorneys dismissed, like a trial he handled where the Appellate Division in the Second Department sustained $1,350,000 on a non-surgical herniated disc case. He now consistently reports some of the largest verdicts in New York, including a $14,000,000 result in Nassau County, reported to be the highest non-medical malpractice verdict ever in Nassau County by the New York Jury Verdict Reporter, and a recent trial that resulted in a verdict in excess of $9,000,000 in Kings County. Mr. Block also enjoys the opportunity to represent injured workers, particularly those that are injured at construction accidents. Recently, Mr. Block helped an injured worker at a construction site that sustained a heel injury by securing a $5,000,000 settlement on his behalf. In January 2009, Mr. Block secured a $5,500,000 settlment for a worker that sustained a back injury in an elevator accident.

Mr. Block is a leading trial attorney but is also respected for his negotiation skills. His negotiation instincts have served his clients extremely well throughout his career. He recently negotiated a settlement that will net his now 8 year-old client more than $71,000,000. He settled an Erbs Palsy medical malpractice case on the eve of trial for $4,000,000.
Mr. Block is known as a tireless worker who never settles for anything but the best for his clients. He is heavily involved in many charities and enjoys being in the position to make a difference in people's lives in and out of the courtroom.
